LED Lenser X21: A Whole Bunch of Badass In Brilliant, Blinding Light

LED Lenser includes a warning with its X21 flashlight: “Do not shine the light directly in someone’s eyes. If the light beam does shine directly in your eyes, look away immediately.” That’s because the four D batteries in the X21 put out 1,100 lumens through seven large LEDs.

AMD Launches New Opteron 3200 CPU Series

New silicon? Yep, AMD’s got it. The company this week announced the new Opteron 3200 Series CPU family, a revised outlay of chips that are sure to be useful for enterprise and cloud-based applications. AMD claims that it offers 38% better price performance and up to 19% less power per core than the competition, and that folks running rack servers will see serious gains in terms of power usage and performance.

Scientists: ‘Games are hard’

While we’ve been telling jaded partners and family members for ages, it looks like there’s some — slightly obscure — proof. The researchers reconstructed their own levels, forcing gamers to choose between one of two paths, with a mix of power-ups, health items and enemies that created a “logical statement”. If you can complete the level with that particular combination, then it would resolve the Boolean satisfiability problem — a logic puzzle that squares variables against whether a statement is true, and whether the same can be said of all similarly composed statements.
