Facebook experiences 1 trillion hits a month

Latest figures out of the social networking giant, Facebook, show an absolutely mind-blowing 1 trillion hits a month. For those who don’t quite grasp just how large that number is, 1 trillion is 1,000,000,000,000… wow. In comparison, YouTube only takes 100 million hits a month.    Behind both of those giants, Yahoo.com receives 78 million page views per month on average. HP mates blades with VMware vSphere

VMworld It’s the VMworld virtualization extravaganza this week, and that means everyone wants to show that they are best buddies with VMware and enthusiastically supporting its virty and cloudy tools. And so it is that Hewlett-Packard is trying to change the subject about its own software aspirations and PC business spinoff and wants to talk about putting the vSphere 5.0 stack on its VirtualSystem preconfigured virtualized servers.

Just in case you can’t keep the HP product names straight, Blade System is the name of the company’s blade chassis and related x64-based server blades.

Breaking News : Google will acquire Motorola Mobility for $40.00 per share in cash, or a total of about $12.5 billion

Google Inc. and Motorola Mobility Holdings, Inc. announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Google will acquire Motorola Mobility for $40.00 per share in cash, or a total of about $12.5 billion, a premium of 63% to the closing price of Motorola Mobility shares on August 12, 2011. The transaction was unanimously approved by the Boards of Directors of both companies. The acquisition of Motorola Mobility, a dedicated Android partner, will enable Google to supercharge the Android ecosystem and will enhance competition in mobile computing. Motorola Mobility will remain a licensee of Android and Android will remain open. Google will run Motorola Mobility as a separate business.

First Glimpse of Quantum Conundrum at PAX

Over the weekend at the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) Kim Swift, one of the designers that brought us Portal, showed off what is to be the follow up physics-based puzzle game called Quantum Conundrum. You play as a young boy at your uncles house, who happens to be a mad scientist. Along the way you find a glove that lets you jump dimensions. One of these dimensions is the “Fluffy” dimension where everything is made of cotton candy. It seems interesting, looking forward to the demo.

Microsoft possibly showing off quad-core Windows-based tablet at TechEd

Microsoft have possibly shown off a Windows 8-based tablet at TechEd with a report from IT consultant Alan Burchill, an attendant at Tech Ed in New Zealand. Burchill says that Microsoft would be giving out these tablets to attendees at an “upcoming Microsoft event,” but since the news has gone live, it has disappeared unfortunately.    Microsoft have of course, not commented on the story, but considering Windows 8 is going from strength to strength, it is not that out of the question. Microsoft also said during TechEd that there are quad-core, Windows 7-based slates coming later this year which are set to sport a 10-inch HD screen, be capable of 1080p playback and have an impressive eight hours of battery life. < Read more…
