It seems, in the computer world, that thin is the way to go theses days. When the MacBook Air was released by Apple, many of us thought that we couldn’t get any thinner. well we were wrong. Sony’s VAIO X Series of laptops has proved to be smaller, thinner and lighter than the MacBook Air. While looking at this laptop, you may notice the Intel Atom processor and compare it to be the same as other netbooks. However, this machine is something different completely.

Toshiba Updates Notebook Line for Windows 7

Toshiba today announced a plethora of updates for its Satellite line of consumer notebooks for Windows 7. Some models have received Touchscreen functionality, and all but the touchscreen models will be available on 22 October.

The 13.3-inch U500 series will start at $689.99 and will be available in four colors: red, white, pink, and brown. The touch-enabled U505-S2980-T will be available on 1 November for $1,049.99.

The 14-inch M500 series gets new color options: red, pink, white, and the original black.

ASUS ANNOUNCES UL30, UL50AG AND UL50VG CULV NOTEBOOKS


The newly announced Asus UL30, UL50AG and UL50VG will run on CULV processors. Besides being power efficient the new laptops feature a thin design and promises to deliver up to 12 hours of battery life.

Design
The chassis is built of brushed aluminum which lends the laptops an aura of elegance while at the same time keeping the design thin. While the UL30 has a 13.3 inch display, the other two notebooks – the UL50AG and UL50VG – come with 15.6 inch displays.

Specifications

Lenovo Reveals New Thin and Light IdeaPad U150

Lenovo had the new 11.6″ IdeaPad U150 on display at the CEATEC expo in Japan. The laptop sports a CULV CPU and a size and weight that will make it an attractive ultraportable notebook.

Official word from Lenovo is slim, but a retailer called Xmit is already selling the notebook and had a list of some specifications. The notebook – which is merely 0.53″ thick and a hair under 3lbs – will feature an Pentium SU4100 1.3GHz CPU with integrated GMA X4500 graphics. There will be 2GB DDR3 RAM, a 250GB HDD, and an LED backlit resolution of 1366×768.

As far as connectivity and other features, the notebook will feature 3USB ports, VGA and HDMI, a multi-card reader, an integrated webcam, and a multi-touch trackpad. Read more…
