While Marvell is pushing its new Armada 610 chipset with 3D and HD graphics capabilities, the company is also showing off products this week based on its existing Armada 510 technology. ASUS EEE PC 1001P UP FOR PRE-ORDER IN GERMANY

The Asus Eee PC 1001P is now up for pre-order at Amazon.de. The netbook sells for 249 Euros (about $357 US). In Europe netbooks tend to cost more than they do in the US, still at $357, the 1001P is much cheaper than the Eee PC 1005P/PE netbooks.

The Eee PC 1001P runs Windows XP Home Edition. Its pricier siblings, on the other hand, run Windows 7 Starter. While the 1001P has a 6 cell battery is rated at 440mAh, the 1005PE has a six cell battery rated at 5800mAh. Still, $357 is a good price for a low cost netbook with a Pine Trail Atom N450 processor. The netbook is expected to be available on January 6th. Read more…

Unibody MacBook Gets Educational Price Drop

When the polycarbonate, unibody MacBook was first released by Apple, many people were turned away from it. It wasn’t that the laptop itself was horrible, despite a few shortcomings. The problem many people had with it was that device itself didn’t seem to warrant a $999 price tag. Well good news, for some of you out there, has just been seen on Apple’s website. The unibody MacBook has just seen a price drop to $728. But there is a catch. The $728 price is only available to students and educators and for a limited time only.

The MacBook is a good laptop all around. Read more…
