Calling it “the industry’s first rugged tablet PC featuring capacitive multi-touch technology,” The 12.1″ XT2 XFR has some decent specs packed into a rugged frame – but that sort of thing won’t come cheap.

The XFR will come with a 1.60GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SU9600 CPU to go along with up to 160GB of HDD or 128GB of SSD space. There will be up to 5GB RAM and the graphics are handled by Intel’s GMA 4500MHD. Aside from the capacitive multi-touch screen and gesture enabled touchpad, features include a fingerprint reader and hot-swappable 2MP camera or GPS. Connectivity beyond Ethernet/audio includes 3USB ports, 1394 (aka FireWire), and VGA.

While the specs page lists Windows 7 support, no versions we were able to customize allowed us to choose Windows 7 at this time (only Vista or an XP downgrade). The most impressive feature of this 5.4lb tablet is that it is fully ruggedized. Pricing begins at $3,599.
