Hacker attack cripples al-Qaida Web communications

Al-Qaida, one of the most reviled groups in the world because of their relentless terror attacks has been a victim of cyber terrorism. Yep, they were hacked so completely that they do “not have a single trusted distribution channel available on the Internet”. I’d say that’s being pwned. Of course, due to the sophisticated nature of the attack, many are wondering if it was sponsored or even perpetrated by one of the many governments that have good reason to disrupt the cyber communications of the terrorist group.

“Al-Qaida’s online communications have been temporarily crippled, and it does not have a single trusted distribution channel available on the Internet,” said Evan Kohlmann, of Flashpoint Global Partners, which monitors the group’s communications.

Gmail Gets First Major Facelift With New Themes

Remember when Gmail escaped Beta? Doesn’t feel like that long ago, but it definitely took Google a really, really long time to finally cross that milestone. And now, the company’s finally giving their Mail application the first major facelift that we can remember. For now, the company’s leaving these new themes in the “optional” folder, and they’ve only pushed a few very minor button changes to the masses. Google and Twitter Deal Expires as Realtime Search Shuts Down

Over the weekend, Google and Twitter’s two year agreement which included ‘tweets’ in search results expired. The deal that originated in 2009 stipulated that each would display real-time Twitter results in Google searches never seemed to gain too much notoriety. Google and Twitter aren’t saying much about the end of this working relationship, but Google seems to be concentrating on their recently launched social network product, Google+. As the partnership between Google and Twitter expires, Google has ‘temporarily’ disabled Google.com/realtime. Google plans to explore options in ways to incorporate Google+ into the functionality of google.com/realtime.

SONY showcase futuristic tablets S1 and S2 at it’s launch of VAIO S and Z series notebooks in Singapore

At the launch event of the SONY VAIO S and Z series, the attention was drawn away from the two laser thin notebooks. Instead all media attention seems to be on the yet to be available SONY tablet.

One of them is S1 and the other is S2. Both tablet looks sleek and information is sketchy. Below are some screen shots of it and a video of it in display at the event held at Handy Road, Singapore.
