App Watch: Birding in Central Park

There’s more to birdlife in New York City than just pigeons, and a new National Audubon Society birding iPhone app aims to help people learn about it.

The app, a guide to birds of Central Park, lists about 200 birds that can be found regularly at different times of year, plus 85 birds that are extremely rare.

Tweetie 2 for iPhone Flutters Into the App Store

A new version of our favorite iPhone Twitter app Tweetie just flew into the App Store. It’s got a cleaner look, a few extra features, and most importantly, it’s much faster.

We’ve had some time to test Tweetie 2, and so far we’re loving it. Like its predecessor, it’s a gorgeous, elegant app that demonstrates keen understanding of user interface design.  New features include a menu to view trending topics, a drafts manager, and the ability to post videos with your tweets.

Pioneer’s free iPhone GPS app syncs with in-dash GPS units


You’d have thought “forget about TomTom or Navigon, since Pioneer is offering a free GPS app for the iPhone”. But don’t get it wrong, the Pioneer’s free GPS iPhone app, AVIC Feeds, is meant for syncing with any one of the two models of the in-dash Pioneer GPS units, AVIC-U310BT and AVIC-Z110BT.
