HTC Hero Gets Long-Awaited Update to Android 2.1

If you’re a Sprint customer with an HTC Hero, you’re living inside a city of aging Android ruins, a forgotten place called Cupcake. Lucky for you HTC just released a time machine in the form of the official update to Android 2.1 for HTC Hero smart phones.

That means several features exclusive to newer Android devices like the Google Nexus One are now ready to be experienced on the 3.2-inch display of the Hero including free Google Navigation, live wallpapers, voice search, and other goodies.

Android 2.1 is known to be a bit faster than previous Android versions but any speed gains may be nulled by the Hero’s 528-Mhz processor, a slow-poke compared to the 1-Ghz Snapdragon CPU found in the Nexus One.  Stil

The HTC Hero Reviewed

It took me a while to review an HTC Hero, now known as the predecessor to the Google Nexus One. The summary? Pretty fast and responsive, and the PDA phone benefits from HTCs customization of the Android OS. But some issues with the speaker volume, integrated camera, and a lack of a physical keyboard were encountered.
