Intel and Nokia Ready Assault on Mobile 3D

Intel and Nokia have been sittin’ in a tree since February, when they agreed to cross-breed their mobile operating systems and form MeeGo. Now they’ve identified the next front in the mobile wars: 3D interfaces.

Today’s announcement of the Intel and Nokia Joint Innovation Center doesn’t come with a lot of hard details about what’s to come, just the promise of “interfaces that are more similar to interactions in the real world” through 3D. That means a more immersive experience, like that pictured above, or a hologram of the person on the other end of the line popping up on your phone.

When we’ll see the fruits of those labors is an open-ended question; it’ll take several months just to staff up the lab.

iPhone Queues? Get a Load of This Nokia C3 Queue

Spotted in Indonesia: at least 63 people queuing for Nokia’s QWERTY-equipped C3 phone. Anyone would think Apple was handing out free iPhones!

Apple seeks ban on U.S. Nokia imports

The ongoing patent battle between Apple and Nokia escalated Friday, when Apple moved to block imports of Nokia cell phones to the U.S.

Apple made its request in a complaint filed with the International Trade Commission, an independent federal agency that examines issues including unfair trade practices involving patent, trademark, and copyright infringement.

Will Nokia devices be blocked from the U.S.?

Nokia Booklet 3G Review

The Nokia Booklet 3G was quite a surprise when it was first announced. With it, Nokia wants to differentiate itself by building a Netbook with a top-notch construction quality, a small footprint (it fits in a large purse) and small weight: only 2.64lbs. On top of that, the Nokia Booklet 3G has a very long real-world battery life. It seems like the perfect Netbook, but it has one significant downside: performance. You do know that Netbooks are slow, but you will have to realize that the Booklet 3G is even slower, so it is definitely not for everyone.

NOKIA BOOKLET 3G REVIEW


The Nokia Booklet 3G hit the market with a great deal of hype. It is the first netbook from Nokia, a company well known for its cell phones. Needless to say the Booklet 3G was one of the most awaited netbooks of the year.

Build quality
Build quality is good. Nokia has encased the laptop in a thick aluminum chassis. The machine weighs just 1kg and measures 2cm in thickness.

Screen
The Booklet 3G has a 10 inch display. According to people who reviewed the netbook, the glossy display is nice with good color and contrast.

Keyboard and touchpad
