After six months of delays, tonight will see the launch of the space shuttle Discovery for the last time. Although the mission is fairly trivial — the astronauts will be tasked with restocking the International Space Station as well as delivering to it a new robot helper — it’s an important occasion, as it ends NASA’s role as an organization with an active manned space flight program until at least 2015.
