Facebook and Twitter are the big boys in the social networking space. So big, in fact, that we’ve probably written about them a bit too much in 2010. But hey, why stop in December? Twitter Study Reveals Who’s Using 140 Characters

Do you use Twitter? Congratulations, you’re in the 8% of U.S. Internet users who are using it according to a new survey from the Pew Research Center’s Internet and Life Project. Maybe it’s just us, but 8% seems like a small number considering the amount of hype that seems to follow the microblogging service.

So who’s in that 8%? There are more women than men on Twitter; African-Americans and Latinos outnumber white Twitter users by almost 2-to-1; urbanites outnumber rural users by almost the same ratio; and 18-29 year-olds are more likely to use Twitter than their elders.
