HTC and Interscope working on a Spotify rival

Good news, everyone! HTC is reportedly working on yet another music streaming service. Why? Because Spotify, Rdio, Napster, Last.fm, Pandora, Slacker, Zune, Mflow, Kazaa, and the rest dont provide quite enough options for listeners just yet.

Apparently the opportunity to create yet another streaming music service has arisen because the record industry is fearful of Spotify. Theyre worried that it could eventually morph into an unstoppable iTunes-like juggernaut, which would put Spotify in a position to call the shots.

Working in the Clouds

Today I’m working in the clouds. I’m not talking about online apps though, I’m literally working from seat 21C aboard a Virgin America flight and can see clouds out of the window as I fly from San Francisco to New York for a Windows 7 launch event. Typically a cross-country flight means a loss of productivity, but today I’m using Gogo in-flight WiFi.

I just fired off a ton of emails, caught up on some online banking and performed some minor site maintenance. I’ve also been chatting away on Skype. The in-flight WiFi is pretty darn slow right now, but at least I can get online. Service dropped out for a couple minutes mid-flight, but it’s been relatively smooth. Read more…
